While Perez might be lacking on an individual basis, he might be the glue that makes all of the O-linemen work together as a team. That's what I want to see this Saturday. Too often against other opponents a double-team wouldn't stop a player from sacking our QB. I want to see some cohesiveness in the O-line as well as some communication when a guard or a tackle is slotted to pull and a LB jumps in the slot without a plan for coverage.

I also miss Josiah on the field. This team just sort of seems to lack energy without his presence.

Looking purely at stats alone, both Rhodes and Clay are averaging exactly 5.1 yards/carry; identical there. When it comes to receiving yards, Rhodes is averaging 9.1/reception, while Clay is averaging 9.5/reception; virtually identical. The difference is in fumbles. Rhodes has fumbled 3 times this year in 132 touches (rushing and receiving combined), while Clay has yet to fumble in 113 touches. Could've sworn Clay had a fumble recently, but the official stats on our athletics page show nada for him.

I'm not at my computer otherwise I'd do the research myself but how do those numbers stack up the last say.. 5 games? Nothing empirical obviously but my gut says Rhodes average may be a bit misleading because he feasted on Southern and TX State.....

On the Clay Rhodes debate it all comes down to 2 things, putting the ball on the ground and again, this O-line. When you put the ball on the ground, it's simple. You sit. On the o-line issue, it's a little more nuanced. I lean towards Clay being our primary back just because this o-line can't open any holes and he seems to be hitting it harder with a better chance to get through. He also seems to have better vision behind the line in making that first guy who inevitably seems to be 2 yards in our backfield, miss.
Win or go home... I don't give a f*** about moral victories!
