Default El Paso Times: No longer UTEP's little brother, UTSA is the favorite

No longer UTEP's little brother, UTSA is the favorite
    Bret Bloomquist, El Paso Times

There was a time when UTEP's sister University of Texas system school in San Antonio was the kid sibling.

In 2010, when UTSA's football program was in its infancy, its practice-only stage, the Roadrunners took the field for their first workouts in hand-me-down UTEP jerseys, still a year away from Game 1.

Much has changed in the seven years since. UTSA comes to the Sun Bowl Saturday as 17-point favorites, coming off a bowl season, with a 4-2 record that includes a pair of losses by a combined three points.

I agree but we did start off in UTEP "hand me down" uniforms. Which is a little sad.

I see them as our older dorky cousins from New Mexico. We have some shared relations but they mainly take after the State School of Mines and Metallurgy side of their family but are allowed to use our family name. It makes for an awkward conversation and upsets grandma so we don't discus it much.
Busy playing Cyberball at the Roost.
