Long drives paved way to victory for Roadrunners

UTSA was able to avenge last season's five-overtime loss to UTEP and at the same time earn a much-needed Conference USA win.

But you got the feeling the Roadrunners walked out of the Sun Bowl in El Paso late Saturday night following their 31-14 victory over the winless Miners with a sense of relief.

"That's all the matters, the W," UTSA coach Frank Wilson said on the team's radio broadcast. "It's not always pretty. But you know coming here, it's always going to be difficult when you play this team. It's been that way from the first time we played and continues to be that way.

"Very proud of our team (for) finding a way to have victory."
