I think all of our comments about why Beverly is leaving have a lot of plausibility, but I doubt that any of us know what's going on inside coaches mind. I think he could have worded his thoughts a little differently, but, other than that, we should wait and see what he has in mind, and how the team performs in the coming season.
You actually more know than you think. The staff has more recruits up their sleeve.

What the Express-News posted about Gino's wanting to be closer to home is not really the truth. For the 2017 class, the staff has signed three guards, including one who is a combo guard (Jhivvan Jackson). Gino saw the writing on the wall, and he knew that he would see very little time next season. As much as he's improved since his time as a Roadrunner, we all know that he is a very undersized shooting guard, and he's not skilled at getting to the rim. We also know that Giovanni should remain our four-year staring point guard. With that said, go ahead and pencil in Deon Lyle or Keaton Wallace as the starting shooting guard. As for Gino, he may be looking at one of the Southland schools, or other mid-majors.

Jeff Beverly is an entirely different story. He kept his decision very quiet, and not even his teammates knew about his decision until after his meeting w/Henson. I have no idea where he'll go, but he'll have just one season to play. I don't think that it's a smart decision. To be honest, I think that being the leading scorer went to his head, and he thinks that he can be the main scorer at another program. But developing chemistry takes time, and he might not get the opportunities with his new team that Henson gave him. Time will tell.

On the upside for the Roadrunners, this now gives them two available scholarships. I would bet that both will be given to post players. I need to do some asking to find out if they are still recruiting the Canadian kid that played at Creating Young Minds Academy. As soon as I find out anything, I will post it.

Beverly is getting a lot of interest from good programs. I'm still shocked he's leaving. Not happy
