Twitter brings its TV app with live video to Roku

    (quoted highlights of article)

On the heels of Twitter’s plans to significantly expand the amount of live streaming video content on its network, the company today is bringing its big-screen video app to a new platform with its launch on Roku devices. The arrival comes over half a year after the TV app was first introduced on Apple TV, Fire TV and Xbox One, and will offer a similar experience that combines live video alongside top tweets.

    ...
With all this video to watch, the Roku Twitter app will allow users to pick and choose which stream they want to watch, Roku says. Users can select any of the live events that are running, regardless if they’re streaming at the same time.

    ...
The new Roku app will be available as a free download starting today in the Roku Channel Store and won’t require users to have a Twitter account in order to use it. The app will work on all Roku devices, including TVs.

Gonna say it again, being on the front end of this is a good thing for CUSA. We need to embrace it, promote it and recognize that when the P5 contracts are up, our honeymoon in this space is over. CUSA needs to maximize the exposure & be THE streaming G5 conference. The AAC can play like they're in the P6 conference conversation all day long but at the end of the day, when we kick UH's ass on opening day, people will "click" in to CUSA online.

Eyes are revenue. Remember, if it's on the Net and it's free, you're the product. Hmmm... that sounds a lot like over-the-air TV used to be.
Win or go home... I don't give a f*** about moral victories!

We will need to embrace new technologies and find ways cause CUSA may soon find itself in the TV wilderness.

    Update:

Adam Anshell, vice president of sports properties for STADIUM, also said that contrary to media reports, STADIUM may televise Conference USA football and basketball after its contract with the league expires in 2018.

"We're very interested" in discussing a new contract with Conference USA, said Anshell, who is attending league meetings this week in Destin, Fla.

Anshell said he isn't sure when STADIUM's schedule will be announced, but said it's likely to be released in early June.
