Default San Antonio area High School Signees

This is really sad. I see Incarnate Word splattered all over the page in multiple different sports and UTSA signed one kid from Boerne for Baseball, IN THE ENTIRE AREA. I hope next year we really focus on our local SA talent to stay home. I know we have a lot of talent in the areas of Softball, Volleyball, Soccer and Baseball that could do well at UTSA (obviously in addition to Football). Just a thought.

Wilson only had 2 weeks. Based on his results I think he earned a pass on this one. He said in the PC they tried but didn't have the time they needed, but it would not happen again.

Also, I've heard the previous staff had alienated many local coaches. So those relationships need to be rebuilt, which can't happen in a couple of weeks.

Don't get me wrong, this thread really wasn't focused on Football. Wilson did an incredible job with the time he had to work with and obviously gets a pass. I see him doing some fantastic work with recruiting in the future. My reason for posting was for ALL sports. UTSA had 1 signee from the area for all sports (at least ones that could sign yesterday). This is a critique on UTSA's Athletic Department as a whole not looking in it's own back yard.

Out of the 60 football players listed, only 12 will be playing at an FBS school.

For a city of this size it's kind of sad how little talent gets produced compared to other major texas cities

It's the demographics...not right or wrong. Just how it is.

Basketball recruiting in SA is non existent.

Here is the reality of San Antonio high schools. (It's pretty much always been this way). There are only 4-5 schools that are consistently performing at a level that produces a few 3 star plus athletes. There was a time, late 80s early 90s, that produced Johnny Walker, the Cash twins, Detmer, Priest Holmes, etc... but that has not happened for quite some time. From my view, Steele, Reagan, Judson, and a couple here and there are the area schools that do this.

I'll stick to football since it's top of mind. There's simply not that many great football players in SA each year. As was said above, only 12 FBS players in total and considering that the previous staff had completely ignored local talent the last few years, why are all these people bitching about not enough local talent recruited now? I saw it on Facebook too. As for football, if the backyard is dead, you have to seed it or put down some sod before you can mow the grass.
Win or go home... I don't give a f*** about moral victories!
