    Exclamation Rules of Conduct

First of all on behalf of the members and staff here at RowdyTalk, welcome aboard!

Please take a few moments and familiarize yourself with the following rules of the community; this ensures that there is no misunderstanding of what is expected of you here. There aren't a lot of rules, but we need to make sure everybody has an opportunity to have a good time here.

    Making your initial post:

Please take a few moments and introduce yourself to the rest of us. Your first post should go in the Introduction forum. We are very interested in how you found us, your affiliation with UTSA, etc.

    Censorship and Conduct:

Let's go ahead and get this one out of the way. RT.com is intended for folks that have their big boy pants on and is created for folks to be able to speak their mind. In other words, feel free to drop f-bombs if you'd like, just don't kill us with them. All we ask is that you remain civil to one another. Also, take a moment to read the name on the door; you will hopefully notice that this community is designed for UTSA fans. Although everybody is welcome, if you are here to simply cause trouble you will be bounced in short order. With that said, we welcome intelligent discussion and debate; differences of opinion and "anti" UTSA opinions are definitely not prohibited, but trolling is. If you need a definition of trolling, please use Google.

    Avatars:

Everyone on the site needs to have an avatar. You should take pride in your posts here, so why not spruce up the place a bit. You can choose whatever avatar you wish (within reason), just please make it a reasonable size. There's nothing more annoying than going to a forum and getting blasted in the face with a wallpaper sized avatar. Please do not "hotlink" your avatar from another website without permission, as it is rude and eats up their bandwidth. Instead, find the graphic, right click and "Save As". You can then upload it here from your computer. If there is an avatar you would like to display that is not listed or you cannot find, let a staff member know and we will try to get it for you at our earliest convenience. If you have trouble viewing the avatar gallery, let us know what you would like and we will hook you up.

    Signatures:

Do not use music, movie clips, extremely large graphics, pop-ups, or java scripts in your signatures. You may include a link to your personal homepage or website in your signature as long as it is not a money-making site. Posting hotlinks to competitive websites or those that are similar in content in your signature is prohibited without prior approval from the Webmaster. Any violation of this may result in the link being removed without prior notification. For further clarification, contact a staff member.

    User Profile:

Take a few moments and fill out your profile. This is not only so that other members can get to know you, but often times new members show up here and look through people's profiles to see what this site is made up of. There has been more than one instance of old buddies hooking back up again because of what was entered in the profile, so take the time and do it!

    Pornography:

Posting pornographic material is strictly prohibited. I don't think I need to say anything else about that.

    Proper Topic Names and Content:

When creating a new topic on this board, please put the actual subject matter in the subject line when creating it. Let's be honest, when there is a cryptic title, as human beings we all will click on it just to see what's going on in that thread. When you put things like "Quick question", or "I was wondering" as your title, you are basically making everyone click on your topic just to see if they are:

    A) Interested in your topic

    B) Know anything about your topic

    C) qualified and/or wish to participate in your topic.

Forcing those of us who do not wish to view your topic may result in "negative responses" in your thread.

Spamming is posting messages with the intent of advertising a product, website, etc. This is strictly forbidden.

Additionally, refrain from posting BULLSHIT in the forums. When replying, stick to the thread topic. Off topic posts may be moved to the appropriate forum or deleted. If you act like a troll, you will be treated like a troll. Don't let this happen to you.

    Racism/Bigotry

RowdyTalk.com, being a website representative of, but not officially affiliated with UTSA does not condone, promote, support, or otherwise subsidize racist activities, organizations, behavior or statements. That being said racist/bigoted activities are defined to include but are not limited to:

    - Posting of racist websites, propaganda, or images for other than academic purposes. "Academic purposes" includes posting such material for discussion or awareness in a manner in which the material is not condoned or supported.
    - Racist commentary. Blanket statements including racist statements (based solely on skin color/race) shall not be permitted.
    - Threats, veiled or overt against an entire race of people shall not be permitted. Inciting or encouraging others to racial violence shall also not be permitted. This is not to be confused with the support or encouragement of any nation to take military or enforcement action against another nation for reasons other than slavery, human trafficking, or ethnic cleansing. Support for the same is not welcome.
    - Any member determined to be a member of a racist organization (KKK, Black Panther Party, Neo-Nazi, White Supremacists, etc) or to be providing aid and/or comfort to the same shall be immediately and permanently banned from the site.

Penalties for violating this policy may range from a warning to suspension of board privileges, to a permanent site ban dependent upon severity of the infraction, previous offenses, and the discretion of the site staff. Blatant violations of the spirit of this policy are also subject to being held in contempt.

    Rules Violations:

Please report any violations of these rules to a Moderator or Administrator. You will notice a button on every post that looks like a triangle with an exclamation point inside of it. This is to report a post to the Moderation staff for a violation. You will remain anonymous while any issues are resolved if so desired. This does NOT mean to come crying to us if somebody hurt your feelings by calling you names. Vagination (a fancy word for being a pussy) has a very short effective range around here.

Now don't be afraid, come on in and join us, we're glad you're here! Run 'Em!

Most of the rules aren't hard and fast; mainly to address excessive thread hijacking and trolling (specifically CK).

IMO, RowdyTalk is known for it's overall light-heartedness.

I like knowing that folks can mess with each other and disagree in a good natured way.

Unfortunately, I've been seeing a few folks that have been taking things too seriously and getting butt-hurt over an opinion made by someone else.

    Don't be a butt-hurt douche.

If necessary we can prescribe some butt-don't-hurt suppositories.

For those that are ignorant and just plain idiotic, I choose to dismiss them. They don't add anything to the conversation and sound too much like a juvenile. However, if they accompany their ignorant and just plain idiotic statements with a funny picture or .gif they can stay.

If anybody ever wonders if there are any rules on RT...there are...see the OP....(more like guidelines though)

Also...it's never too late to make an introduction thread. (This includes opponent fans...don't be scert.)

I'm usually stirring the pot. I don't read rules, instructions, directions, maps, etc...

I've really dropped the ball in the avatar department. I'll get right on that.
