Italy fails to qualify for the 2018 World Cup. First time since 1958.

Did you guys see the rumor about USSF working with some of the other SF's (Holland, Italy and Chile) to get a tourney going for next summer for some of the select nations that didn't qualify for the WC? That would be pretty sweet if they can pull that off, especially if we host it here in the U.S. and they play some of those games close by.

I really liked the way the yutes looked against Portugal the other day....breath of fresh air honestly.

Agreed on all counts. The biggest challenge will be trying not to piss off FIFA too much (especially with 2026 bid still up in the air), and still finding a time that works well enough with the international schedule and MLS.

I did read another article recently, though, that suggested we shouldn't worry about hosting a tournament and should just schedule a pre-WC friendly against a WC team, and then another friendly against Italy or similar. The Consolation Tournament basically just waters down the type of opponent we could be playing and helps out other teams that are on the bubble that maybe don't have the sway to get big-name friendlies otherwise.
